I was just reading a thread on where people go for lumber products in Conn. Where is a good place to get quality furniture grade wood in Massachusetts??

You can get that type of lumber at Anderson Mc Quade, home of the exocits, Cambridge Massachusetts, off Concord Street. I don't have their telephone number, but they do have a website @ AndersonMcQuade.com.

Where in Mass?
The one mentioned in Enfield is pretty good and the one in Sheffield if in Western MA
Try http://www.woodfinder.com as well
I also like the people in Enfield (New England Wood Supply, or something like that). They have great variety and are extremely friendly. I just bought several board feed of ash, and they planed it for me at no extra cost.
New England Wood Supply is in Acton, MA isn't it? Anyway, no matter where you are the best way to find suppliers is WoodFinder.com. You just enter the criteria and it comes up with a list of the closest suppliers. Didn't have everyone the last time I used it, but better than Yahoo or other search engines.Jim

The one I was referring to is Connecticut Wood Group's Hardwood Outlet, in Enfield, CT. They are really good. After I posted yestrday, I looked in my file cabinet and found the name.
The manager/owner (?) is Leslie Arens. Here's their contact information:

jr,
Here are the places I use that seem to have the best prices.
Holt and Bugbee for mahogany, they supply most lumber yards in MA. They are in Andover.
Downes and Reader, Good prices on maple, poplar, walnut, and some exotics. They carry shorter lengths which is nice for furniture. They are in Stoughton.
Northland forest products is in NH but right over the border from MA. They have the best prices on north american hardwoods, and figured hardwood. They are near Kingston NH. Rt. 95 N 1st. exit in NH Rt. 107 W.

I don't know how it compares to the place in Enfield, but there is also Forest Products up 91 in Bernardston.

Forest Products is actually in Greenfield. I hear she has her own grading system whatever that means. Haven't bought anything there but picked up some larch someone was storing there for a job we had going. I hear good things about the place in Enfield. Amherst Wood sells wood but I hear they pick the best to run for their jobs and sell the rest. There's also some yards through out Mass and CT that are selling recycled wood like chestnut, heart pine, picklevat oak and even salvaged timbers that were submerged in Lake Superior. That's where the larch we picked up came from.
Holt and Bugbee is a pretty good source. They are actually in Tewksbury, MA, near Andover.

I just bought a piece of mahognay 34" wide (12/4X34X10')for about $6.25 per board foot. I thought that was a decent piece of wood at a decent price.

Berkshire Products in Sheffield, Mass

I have bought hard maple, figured bubinga and recently walnut from them.
Prices are reasonable but not great, I'm building for myself so price is of less importance.
