The local paint store has black wet-or-dry sandpaper. I couldn’t find anything on the package identifying the type of abrasive (although I sometimes fail to see things that are right before my eyes) and the clerk didn’t know.
Is black sandpaper always silicon carbide? I’ve read that it works better for sharpening chisels.

Black paper
99% of the time silicon carbide paper is black and sometimes dark gray.
Next to diamond paste, SC paper is what I use to sharpen chisels.
Does the reverse hold true? I.e., can I assume that most black sandpaper is silicon carbide?

What grit and micron sizes do you use for your chisels?
