School surplus, Seattle area
Hi GUys,
http://www.seattleschools.org/area/surplus/index.dxml
Here’s an auction I saw posted – it’s a bit too far for me to go but thought it might be of interest.
Cheers,
eddie

Hey, Eddie, c'mon over -- it'll be fun!
Seriously, though, MBA Auctioneers (Larry Mroczek and his son) is an excellent outfit, and runs an organized, efficient auction. I've known him for over 10 years now.
Note that the most of the stationary machines are 3-phase.

I might still just stick my head in the door for an afternoon, f_g
I'm setting up a complete workshop at the moment and am looking for 5 lathes (metal) in reasonable nick as well as a pan brake.
So far, but yet so near.

eddie
Shipping would be a killer, eh?! How'd you learn about the auction?forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
hi f_g,
From memory, I think I typed the search terms in google and forgot to add the NSW search term, so this one jumped up at the top of the list.
Have fun window shopping. I reckon that purchase by me would be a career limiting decision.

It's a shame to see so many schools giving up their shop programs. On the other hand, there are some good bargains out there when a school discontinues shop classes. A few years ago, I picked up a Powermatic 12" planner and a Powermatic belt/disc sander (30-B) at a school auction. Both were single phase, in excellent condition, and the prices were very reasonable.

Thanks for the post, Eddie.
I was all ready for the "face-off" with the wife over trying to pick up one of those metal lathes but saw Jamie's note about the 3phase business. Bummer.
Good luck on setting up your shop.
I take it you do a fair amount of metal work as well as woodworking?

Hi Dennis,
I teach high school kids and am a dual-trade metallurgist as well as cabinetmaker.
We're setting up a metal shop.
Cheers,
eddie
