Glad to hear you got such great service. What is the special coating and what does it do??

Well, it's supposed to be a secret, but it's mayo, ketchup and pickle relish, and it helps hold the onions & . . . .
Oh wait. That's special *sauce*.
Never mind.

I suspect it's just something to ensure good electrical contact between the blade and the arbor, since that's how the sensing mechanism works.

That's all, huh?
"I suspect it's just something to ensure good electrical contact between the blade and the arbor, since that's how the sensing mechanism works." 'Twould be a good idea, yes.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
How did it go bad, though? Through use? Factory defect?
Yea, I just bought one for my shop... what's the deal and how can it be avoided?
Not terribly reassuring is it? I suppose the appropriate thing to do would be to contact the SawStop people.
Jamie beat me to it - special coating?
