Hi folks
Just had a Ridge saw blade demoed for me. The guy (Dave) said that the blade had not been sharpened and a goodly number of years.
Even so it produced a cut that was ready for glue up. I mean I’v seen worse edges after sanding.
Now, these blades are not cheap and I know there a many other brands out there but for me a blade that has been cutting for that many years and still produces and cut that good is the one for me.
As soon as I get things organized that is the one I’m going to own.
If you want to check it out you can find them at www.thesawshop.com
Another thing I just learned is that the General, King and Trademaster tablesaws are all made in the same offshore factory. So as far as I can see you want to make sure the unit you are getting is in top form and then buy the best deal and the heck with the brand name. Myself I’m sold on the trademaster but I think that is in big part the Accusquare fence that comes with it.
Have a great day
Bear

Expensive blade. I've used a Forrest blade for a long time and while I love it, I've come to the conclusion that you're better off with a dedicated blade for ripping (maybe two, depending on thickness of stock to be ripped), and another blade for cross cutting. You can get top of the line Freud blades for ripping and cross cutting for less than the single blade you're talking about.

I've used systematic and forrest combination blades for several years now. Both give excellent results up to 8/4 or so. The key I've found, is to tune the saw the saw to perfection. The guys that demo blades at shows have zero run out on their arbors, perfectly parallel fences, etc. When I start to notice blade marks on fresh cuts I break out the dial micrometer and tune things back to perfection.
My two cents.
Can you point me to a good resource for tuning up the TS (I have a contractor's and I'd like to give it a once (or twice) over before I get into trouble.
BTW - I've been using Freud blades adn love them. My rip blade has produced glue up ready cuts (good thing too - no jinter to be found yet in my shop)!Kind regards - Fred
