I do quite a bit of routing, I trim houses for a living. I use a 3hp PC router in a table. I am concerned about the dust that falls into the motor as I use it. Should I be concerned? It would be a major pain to set up a DC system in every house, but should I do it? Thanks

I've never had a problem with my PC 7518, I just vacuum it out occasionally.

To my knowledge there's only one 3 hp router designed to hang upside-down in a router table, the new Bosch (don't ask me the model number). It has special shielding to keep the dust and debris from clogging up the works, as well as a lock that over-rides the plunge system. Someday I may add it to my collection, but in the meantime my PC 7518 and Freud FT2000E will just have to put up with eating sawdust while hanging under their respective tables. They don't seem to mind, as long as I remember to blow them out once in a while.
the bosch is a 1619evs. I got one and i like it.
Have one too. Di yiu know of that dust sheild?
I think i knew about it when i bought it, however it has since evaded my usual thinking.... as do most things. The only vent for the motor cooling is a the bottom. So the shield is really just the shell. Dust just falls on the thing but has a hardertime getting into the motor well.
Overall im impressed with the 1619. Just need to get that microfence for the router now.
