Does anyone know if Ron Hock has a web site? I type in “hocktools.com” and I get some Mendocino County board that’s never heard of Ron Hock or Hocktools.
I’m interested because I heard that Hock is making blades for the Stanley #80. None of my catalogs or .coms mention it. Is he making a replacement blade for the venerable 80? Has anyone used one?
BTW, does anyone have a source for safe edge files? I can’t seem to find one of those either.

Try http://www.hocktools.com. I got the same site you did without the www,
Ron's site with the www.
I live in the Chicago area and head to Berland tools every now and then. They have a HUGE selection of files, lot of them are Nicholson. If you aren't near that, http://www.coopertools.com/catalog/pdffiles/htoolcat_99/DOCS/NICHLSON.PDF is the site for Nicholson files. Also you could look around http://www.coopertools.com for more stuff.
I missed the question about the files.
Pillar files are safe of two edges, but they are Swiss pattern files (needle files) and may be smaller than you need. I buy mine at MSC Industrial Supply, (800)645-7270. They also have a web site. I think it's http://www.mscdirect.com, but I find it unusable. They'll send you a catalog on request.
One of Guy Lautard's Machinist's Bedside Readers had a piece about a gunmaker who modified files by grinding safe edges on them. But he worked in the grinding shop of a lumber mill and probably had access to more capable grinders than you or I have.

Another source of Hock blades (including the 80 & 12 scrapers) is http://www.japanwoodworker.com.
Here you go:

Thanks to all! I finally found Hock's web site. He does make a blade for the Stanley #80.

I bought an old 2man crosscut saw from a junk yard. The steel is tough and makes fine scrapers. The one drawback, the face usually has pits.Cut the blade into usable size pieces and have them blanchard ground by your local machine shop. The steel turns a long lasting burr.
