I’m in the market for a brad nailer and was at Home Depot today having a look at what’s there. The new RIDGID brad nailer supposedly needs no oil and drives brad up to 2 1/8″ long.
Having picked it up, I must say I noticed it was lighter than the Bostich. Any comments on this tool?

FWIW: The Bostitch brad nailer(BT200k-2) weights 2.1 lbs. and the ridgid weights 2.4 lbs. The Bostitch is also oil free and will shoot up yo a 2 1/2" brad nail.
Sooooo.... which do you recommend?- Toolfreak
I would go for the Bostitch. Bostitch is a pneumatic tool company that only make pneumatic nailers. ease of getting parts and service when needed (300 authorized service centers in the country). Reputation of selling a quality product. Good luck
When I was buying one of my nailers a couple of years ago, I already had my mind made up on the PC, but Bostich was having a promo sale on their's, so I asked the guys I regularly deal with at my tool supplier, and HD their opinion, and they both said, buy the PC. They said they have way to many comebacks on the Bostich.

I'd bet that 95% of the come-backs are from interprising individuals that make the purchase, use the tool for the intended project, then return it for full credit ... (did they bring the box of brads, nails, staples back for credit?). Bostitch "reconditioned" tools are an excellent buy (from internet auctions under major known tool dealers), and a box or two of brads, or staples, or nails just start smoothing up the operation. These items are usually only open-box returns that they check-out completely.
Those used (read that as used-up) pneumatic tools sold by individuals, however, are usually to be avoided .... they most often show evidence of the mistreatment they have received. I'd review the real history of manufacturers .... how many of those names were in the pneumatic tool business five to ten years ago? Just my 2-cents.

My tool supplier doesn't take stuff back when your done with it. They are a warranty approved repair shop for all major tool makers. If you bring back a tool claiming there's problem, they will check it right away, and know if you are full of it, and they will tell you.
Two different sales reps. reported a much higher number of warranty related problems with the Bostich, over the PC. So I think I can safely take these statements as fact. And fact is what I base my decisions on, not (guesses).
I'm more concerned with what with what's happening today, and could care less who was doing what ten years ago. So you keep reading History, and I'll stick with my fact's, and current information.

I have mostly Boshtic and PC guns and would happily trade them for the new ridgid guns. It may be a gamble but Ridgid hasn't burned me yet. Those are by far the most well thought out guns on the market. Once again it looks like Ridgid actually went to the pros that use the tools and asked what we wanted in them. Now days that seems to be a novel idea for the tool companies. Boschtic may be a "pnumatic company making nail guns" but they haven't tried very hard to make their product more usefull to us. EVERY feature I've ever thought I wanted is on those guns; from the swivel hose conector to the selectable contact trip trigger. Also non marring rubber pads on the sides, jam clearing door, positionable exaust, easy to adjust depth control, fast loading, I forget what else. The only thing missing is a head light! No other maker on the market put so much effort into their guns. And NO ONE can beat the waranty on the Ridgid. If you don't like it simply bring it back to Home Depot and get a Boshtich or Porter Cable, or your cash back! No loose situation.
