Hi everyone I wanted to post some pics of some recent projects. An end table, a mantle peice, and a keepsake box.
I am pretty far from fine woodworking and I am limited due to budget to off the shelf materials and finishes but I work hard to make them the best that they can be.
First mantle and table I have ever built.
They are all built of poplar and finished with minwax woodstain in provincial for the mantle and English Chestnut for the box and table. Coated with Minwax fast drying spray on polyurethane, which I am very impressed with. If you can recoat within two hours there is no need to sand between coats, I put on about 6 thin coats let dry for a day or two then lightly sand and recoat for a finish that is run free and as smooth as manufactured furniture. The box is still in progress. I used my new PC pinner to attach the base mold, with a light bead of glue.
Also this is my first time posting pics. I still don’t have a digital camera but these are from my phone. Come to think of it I probably should have posted it in the Gallery. Sorry.
Critique invited, appreciate constructive criticism.

I am bumping my own thread. Not because I am fishing for compliments but because I find it a little irritating that some threads dont show up in the category unless you click on the category to basically refresh the display. Why is that.
It happens to me here and at breaktime.
If you post a question or comment It should show up in the folder where you places the post. You should not have to refresh the folder every tim you wnat to se it

Webby,
Thanks for posting your projects. More should do the same. One bit of constructive criticism if I may: Your pieces look nice but we can't see any detail. The pictures are much too small. If you could post pics of 75KBytes to 200KBytes we could see a lot more detail.
Here's an example, an "under-bed" box for my grandson's building blocks. It is 89KBytes (file size).
I know some folks can't adjust the size of their pictures but I can easily and will offer to do so for any who need it.
Respectfully,
Pete
Hi webby ,
I don't think the photos give your works the justice they deserve .
Very light and delicate looking end table , couldn't see the mantle details but the proportions look good to my eye . The box like The mantle is hard to see closely .
Try posting in the gallery instead when its pictures
keep on making sawdust
dusty
Yeah, I am sory about the photo quality. I need to get a better photo setup but I was eager to post whatever pics I had because I have been a long time learner and lurker both here and at breaktime.
I got excited about trying to figure out how to post pictures I forgot what folder I was in.
Thanks.

I have been playing with the photo editor, but when I increase the size of the pic. it gets pixely. What is the best way to take pictures with good detail?Webby
You can't add resolution to an image that doesn't have it already. Thus, you have to start with how you take the picture in the first place. You need a camera that has sufficient resolution. Although some cell-phone cameras are good enough (at least 1 megapixel), many are not.
From there, you can adjust the camera's settings for various resolution/file size trade-offs. You'll have to consult the camera's instruction manual (horrors!) for specific details on how to do that.

Webby,
From what I can see , your work deserves a proper camera. Shop around-these days one gets a lot of camera for the money and they are very useful for woodworking purposes.
Don't get sidetracked with photography. Just keep building.
Thanks everyone.Webby
