At the risk of sounding really stupid I was wondering if it is possible to dry turning blanks in a food dehydrator.

Mike,
How wet will they be when added to the dehydrator? If they dry too quickly they will crack. You won't be doing yourself any favours by bringing them down to a moisture content level lower than the humidity of its final environment (your house).

Use your microwave instead.
