I want to spray paint all the interior trim (casings, base, windows) in the new home I am building. What is the chance I can get a satisfactory job with one of the HVLP 4-stage turbine setups sold by the mail order places, like Woodworker’s Supply or Tool Crib?

I'd say the chances are very good that you could get a satisfactory job that way. But, I think you could probably get just as satisfactory of a result using one of those $50 Wagner electric paint guns. The Wagner would be slower. But, it'd be vastly cheaper and probably easier to use.

If ya do it right you can get the same from a brush in fact even quicker cuz ya dont have to do all the masking that you would if you were spraying
Darkworks: No Guns No Butter squilla and the bling bling.
Bingo for Ron. Way quicker (assuming you're painting skills are up to snuff and, if they're not, there's no better time to learn. You shouldn't have to mask anything, nor should you have much "clean-up" work, unless you have something really complex.
Good brushes, a modicom of talent, and I think you'll come out ahead.
I have a wagner. much eaiser and quicker to use brush. Over spray can be a bit8h.Tom
I had a Wagner, it died after about 4 paint jobs over 3 years. I'm glad its dead, pain in the A$$ to set up and clean, and LOUD!
Good (expensive) paint and brushes, and a stereo.
Enjoy, Roy
Depends a little on what you're spraying. If latex is a safe assumption, why not just go to the paint store and rent something like a little Graco 440 for the morning. That would only cost you about $40 and it'd be darn easier than trying to push latex through an HVLP and clean up. Now if its oil, then I'm more in favor of the HVLP, or a cup gun, or a pressure pot.
