I’m building a pie safe with copper punched panels. I would like the hinges to match in color. I have steel butt hinges. I bought some copper metallic finish at ace hardware but now I’m wondering if it will stick. It seems I read about a product that would assure adhesion but can’t remember where I read it. I think it was in the last few months. Did anyone else see this? If not are there any other ideas? Thanks in advance. Walker

Not to sound smart alecky, but get an extra set of hinges and try it. Might be just that simple.

*Try automotive paint. You can buy the spray cans for trim work and it should hold up for the application you have in mind. Also If you can take the hinges apart and clean them with thinner to insure that no grease or residue is left on the hinges.Scott
*Just clean the hinges with lacquer thinner first. That will remove the oils and waxes that might cause a problem. You could also prime them with a metal primer. After you've got the copper on them hit them with some clear acrylic. Believe it or not, there is so much copper in the paint that it will actually tarnish. It looks O.K. on real metal but not so good on the painted stuff.
