My next major tool will be a dust collector and the new one from Jet, the 2 stage TS 650 1 hp looks attractive. It’s the cannister style that sits on a trash can. Can anyone give me some first hand experience with this one, or direct me to a review that’s been done? Thanks. GP

Can't give any first-hand testimonials, but maybe a heads-up: my local purveyor of tools has what I think is a new design from Jet. It's a two-stage collector, with bag on the bottom and a large pleated filter (cylindrical) on top. It doesn't appear on Jet's web site (that I can see), but I suspect it's a version of the DC-1100. Shouldn't cost much more than the 650, but perhaps the filtration is better. And maybe the power? Have to find the specs somewhere.

Jeff in so cal
Jeff, thanks so much. Amazing that Jet doesn't have the info on their site yet!
I'm realllllly liking that new DC design. 2 microns is pretty d*&n small, and being able to just tie up and throw away the bag in the bottom is quite appealing, or even tie it up, drag it over to the compost pile and then stand back and dump it. Who knows. Wonder how noisy that new dust-collecting disc sander is.
Last paragraph indicates Powermatic's going to be gearing up for lots of new production. Hmmmmm, should be interesting.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
