Howdy all –
Does anyone know where to get a nicholson no 27? Similiar in shape to 49 and 50’s but cant seem to find one anywhere. Phil Lowe mentions it on his ball and claw video so I assume they existed at one tme. I tried cooper tools which owns nicholson but couldnt find anything. Any pointers would help.

chris,
I have not found the file you ask for but have you looked at the supplier called Tools for Working Wood? Maybe their line of hand cut rasps etc. has a similar file that could work for you.

Their paper catalog is much easier to see the products I wish that all the online catalogs for wood working tools had larger pics.

Close and nice. Ive got plenty of rasps, what I really need are the files of the same shape. Love the nice pointy tip on the 49 and the auriou rasp. Having said that, the little gramercy 5 incher looks darn nice!Chris
Take a trip over to the Woodnet Forum (hand tools) and look up a guy named "Slav". He used to sell NOS files and rasps of all makes and types. Also, try calling Boggs Sharpening Service. Besides sharpening files and rasps, they also sell the same. They may be able to give you the status of what is available and what is toast.

Give these guys a try. MSC Direct has just about everything. Tom
