Just picked up My new Jet 6″ jointer and love it..no trouble with assembly and set-up was a breeze…glad to be rid of the 4″ Craftsman I Had…anyway..My question is..because I have a small shop..I want to cut 3″ off the legs so that the highest point will be just below the surface of My TS..making good use of space..wondering if that would void any warranty issue I might have…Thanks in advance..

I don't think cutting off the legs would affect the warranty in any way, but nonetheless I would hold off for a month or two to make sure the machine is working up to snuff.
If for some reason you want to return or exhange it, I would guess they will give you a hard time if you have already cut the legs down.
You should consider ergonomics. Most machines are designed to be used by folks of a certain average height. The three inch height change could create a back problem for you or might make it more difficult to use the machine properly and efficiently for best results, especially of you are taller than the norm. I can't see the rest of your shop but one of the best places to put a jointer is at the other side of your tablesaw. A jointer near the saw is certainly the most efficient way to place it as the jointer is the first tool to begin lumber prep for milling.
I agree with Rick. Jointing requires enough consentration as it is, you dont want to make it harder.
You may consider building your own base and not use the factory legs at all. then you can get some more storage, pluss add weight to the machine.
