I am planning to build a crib in cherry in anticipation of the birth of my first child. However, I want to use a non-toxic finish (in case the little one decides he’d rather be a beaver). Does anyone know of any durable, non-toxic finishes for such an application? I’ve never used “Behlen’s Salad Bowl Finish”, but I am leary of it’s use on a such a piece.

shellac--it's used to coat pills.
*All finishes sold in the US since the mid 70's are required to be non-toxic when fully cured.
