I’m just finishing two of Norm’s wall clocks. (I’ve made about a dozen in the past, they make great wedding presents, etc.) I’m finishing these with a coat of Waterlox base and two coats of the satin finish. I’m thinking of putting Minwax wipe on over the Waterlox to see what it would look like. Have any of you done this? Does it work?

I assume you mean Minwax Wipe On Poly. You can use it over the Waterlox, I suppose but there is no benefit on a clock which hardly need extra protection from abrasion. Poly is a little less clear than the phenolic resin in Waterlox, but perhaps a small degree lighter. I wouldn't use the Minwax, but if you do you should wait until the Waterlox is well cured before putting on the Minwax and scuff sand to aid adhesion. The difference in appearance will be very minor, if you can tell at all.
Thanks for the advice. Don
Waterlox is a varnish, Minwax wipe-on is a varnish. There is little point to putting the Minwax over the Waterlox. What do you want to accomplish?
If you want to try a wipe on finish, just thin the Waterlox Satin 50/50 with mineral spirits. Now you have a wipe-on finish. No need to purchase the Minwax.
