According to the rebate form, it's only good for specific Delta tools and you have to send in the product UPC from the package.
I have a feeling that there is going to be some pissed off people soon.
I'm wrong. After checking Lowe's site I see that #52389 is the 1/4 sheet sander.
The proof is in the puddin'

Had a very helpfull person at the service desk look up the tools that are on the rebate.
Here goes:
Miter saw (don't remember if 10 or 12)
14 Bandsaw Model ---268 (3/4 hp motor for $399)
One of the thickness planers
Al I could remember-was hoping the 6 inch diameter PC orbital sander was on the list, but wasn't.
I did buy 3 of the 1/4 sheet palm sanders to give as Christmas presents though! :)
Lowes number for the sander is #52389...and that is on the Delta rebate
Smijal,
Are you going to mail in three rebate receipts? just curious...
I just picked mine up at Lowes...thanks to Tooldoc. Now we'll see if I get my money back in 8 weeks
RE: "Are you going to mail in three rebate receipts? just curious..."
That is my question also! Read line two of the fine print: "2. No limit with proper proof" What does that mean?? One for each same item number? Or for each different items??? No where does it say one offer per household etc. but they do mention "Fraudulent submission of multiple requests .... etc." But if I really buy three it isn't fraudulent so will they or won't they send $50 for each one? What does everyone else think? On the one hand it is stupid to rebate for 3 of the same items but then again it is stupid to rebate $50 for a $49 item...Edward
EF,
I read the rebate form the same way you did...ya bought three, your entitled to collect three times...three seperate UPC #'s .. go for it..
I think it would be fraudulant if you re-submitted the receipts and UPC #'s on another three forms...I'm not sure, but they may accept copies..so this could happen if you used different addy's and fictious names...

Edward,
I have observed rebates where they stipulate "one per houshold" or "x items per household" as well as "one rebate per item designated on the form". This form says neither.
I read #2 to caution that rebates will be honored only if there is proper documentation for each and every item. If they try to deny it, they just may end up dealing with my relative lawyer! A multi-million dollar company not having the wherewithall to word their rebate forms clearly and concisely? Their case for denial would apear to be very weak.
I guess I'll just have to document , wait and see.... :) If I'm wrong, I can still return them!
Not to flog a dead horse but... I when to Lowes today and looked for the sander, they have one left, yes item number is 52389, although UPC number is different- not sure if that matters but...
But here is the great part: (You have to know this is a 1/4 sheet palm type sander with holes in the pad for dust collection.) They have a big display about a coupon from Porter-Cable for a "free" piece that will punch holes in your sand paper after you mound it on the machine- so the dust collection works! It is just a ~ 4" x 4" piece of plastic with points sticking up where the holes go, maybe costs <50 cents to make?? Should have been included with the sander-other wise the dust collection is all but useless. But to get this part you have to:
1. Send the original coupon from their display, copies not allowed.
2. Send the original UPC, copies not allowed.
3. Send the original cash register receipt, copies not allowed.
One per household etc etc.
So Lowes will (it appears!) will send you unlimited $50 bills for a $49 item with copies of all the paper work except for the UPC. But P-C wants the original of everything for a 50 cent part that should have come with the tool.
Talk about the the right hand not EVEN KNOWING there is a left hand!
Edward
EF,
There is one with the tool. Yes, it's only plastic with things sticking up, but it does work well. I bought my second shet sander yesterday..so now I have two hole punching thingies...lol
Just to let every one know. I purchased six of the 1/4" sheet sanders and the plunge router. I paid sepratly for the sander/router because I am expecting Lowes to put up a fight for the sander rebate. The receipt for the router had on it the same type of rebate form as Lowes had on their homepage, So basically you don't need a rebate form, just the receipt. With the purchase of the sanders there was no rebate verbage. After my purchase I asked for a manager and showed her the rebate I printed from the website. She looked at the rebate and the one printed along with my router receipt and she said as far as she could tell Lowes would have to honor the rebate. She remarked that they must have made an error on the rebate form and haven't corrected it yet. I sent all my rebate stuff off this morning and expect to hear from the rebate center in about 4 weeks when they call to let me know the rebate will not be honored. Oh well, I'll be ready to fight. Their error has paid for my christmas gifts.
I also sent my rebate off this morning in the mail that didn't go because of the holiday. My sander also had a hole punch square thingie with it included in the case. I am considering it an early Christmas gift to myself regardless if I get the rebate back or not. We shall see in 4 to 6 weeks.
dovetail,
If you get the rebate check from Lowes..you will havespent about $2.50 on yourself for Christmas. I think you should splurge on a half dozen acid brushes also..just to make a really swell christmas...:-)
Certainly will mail in all 3 rebates. The second condition printed on the rebate slip states "No limit with proper proof"
delta and PC are owned by the same people FYI
Thanks for the info............as you have probably guessed, I need all the help I can get .
Anyone have a copy of the rebated form they are willing to post or email. Looks like Lowes removed it from there site. All i get is page not found.
Yep, they've killed it alright. Too funny, I suspect someone's going to get demoted to the mail room for that one. What a fiasco.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I've put my copy up for bids on eBay! MOP (Mint on paper!)
Edward
Try this:Edward
Thanks, EF and all who emailed me with a response. I have the rebate form now hopefully i can find a local lowes that has the sander.
Well I am now the proud owner of 4 porter cable finish sanders (until christmas then Ill only have one). No rebate recipt printed when i made the purchases so I asked the manager check the rebate and she said it valid in her system (what ever that is). The store here in Indy had 16 of them.
Great got it thanks!
db

Hi again TD. I wandered over to Woodnet, did a search on "rebate" and found many threads, but none that were obviously the right one. If you have time, could you navigate there, copy the URL (up in your "Address" window) and post it for moi? No prob if you can't though. Thanks.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Jamie: Your going to kill me but gave you wrong titile for that thread.. correct title is Free Sander at Lowes!!!!! no wonder you couldn't find it ha ha..

Forestgirl,
Go to Lowes.com, then to "customer services" and then the middle of the page will have a button for "on-line rebates"
Stan
