Good luck Len!
I assume you're watching what goes down at the Bay?
Malcolm
Certainly do that, but to be honest I've had wonderful luck acquiring infills from other sources as well. I find you can get deals on nicer well cared for and tuned planes[users in that sense] from a lot of different sources if you know where to look and get a few relationships established with the right folks. I've probably gotten at least five from just asking in forums from other woodworkers. I don't do the hagling route to much as I 've gotten a better idea of whats worth what and whats a good worker and just fuff for the eyes,so I know whats a fair price for most and whats not, believe it or not theres a whole world of infills outside the Norris and Spiers box and they made a lot of them in their day. Len
How many panel planes do you need? What do you intend to do with them?
Todd
My guess is: Buy low, sell high.Matt
Nope,I've never sold a plane to anyone for profit, given a few away to deserving homes or traded up for something else ,but I don't sell planes.
Nardo, Plese pardon my cynicism.Matt
No problem, unfortunately thats what a lot of people do,buy em to sell em,one of the effects of Ebay add in tool dealers and well healed collectors and I can see your point all too well. I'm one of those throw backs that get infills because I'll use em or collect them and make em working planes again.
I don't need them,I collect them and smoothers I just really like the infills, the weight, the look, how well they work .a whole bunch of reasons why I like infill planes.I probably only use 3-4 on a routine basis.
I'm still in the market for infills,if anybody wants to part with one......
Good grief Len, are you planning to corner the market! < BIG grin >
Regards from Perth
Derek
