I’m interested in hooking up with other woodworkers in my area – South east Louisiana. There’s a local bowl turner’s group, but I’m not a dedicated turner. Are there any of you who have put together local organizations in your area? What were your challenges, your successes, your process?
And in the event that you have experience with a local group, what benefits do you get from it?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

The web site below is for a group I joined in central New Jersey. If you leave an E-mail for one of the Officers, I'm sure you will get some info.
The benefit is meeting new people with a common interest and in my case a great deal more knowledge and experience. It helps the learning curve and provides a place to reach out to with questions (kind of like this forum).
I often find that many of the discussions/presentations are way over my head but I enjoy the atmosphere.
Good luck.
