I am looking for a “lion” miter trimmer (new or used) and have heard that there are differences between models etc. I would like any information that may be available before making this purchase. Thank You Bob r.

The original Lion was made in the northeast, Vermont, I think. Then asian clones started to show up. I don't own one, but when I looked them over, I decided that if I ever bought one, I'd buy the US made one because it looked like it was made with more precision. Miter cuts are precision work, so why buy a compromised machine that can't deliver what I want? The asian machines were about $100 less, but if they don't give the results I want, who needs the aggravation? But today the Vermont Lion might (I don't know) be made in Taiwan too, so it might not matter. In that case I'd look for a low-mileage used US-made one. My 2 cents.
they are made by a company cALLED pootatuck, and advertise in fine woodworking. i called them and got a packet a while ago, but it is too buried to dig out. they still make em'.
