I am building a hutch out of cherry. I only get to work on it a few hours at a time , a few days a week. . In between shop visits I stacked the cherry and now there are lines where the light hit the wood. Exposing all the wood to the light does not seem to help, all the wood is darker and the difference is still there. Sanding also does not help at least the amount of sanding that won’t affect the fit,(frame and panel). Any suggestions on how to even it out.? I was planing on a light finish like danish oil. Should I just let time take care of it.? Thanks for any suggestions. John

Leave it alone. The color will equalize throughout the material over time. I wouldn't put any finish on until the patina is consistent throughout.
When I work on a piece I always cover it with a sheet or light tarp at the end of a day. What you described is typical with cherry.
