I bought a L/N dovetail backsaw, and it consistantly drifts to the left during a cut…is it me ( grip ) or is a tune up to the tool in order? Maybe tooth set or something…

It's probably the way the teeth are set. Has it been sharpened since it was new or is this the way you received it? If the latter, have you e-mailed Lie-Nielsen? They're great saws and will last a lifetime if properly cared for.
dajinx,
My Lie-Nielsen dovetail saw also drifted to the left when it was new. It didn't drift all that much--not even a noticeable amount on the short cuts for dovetails. But I also use it for cutting tenon cheeks. It's a very easy fix: I used a very fine water slip-stone and ran it gently over the teeth, back to front, on the left side. After each swipe with the stone I made a test cut in some scrap. As I recall it took only about four or five gentle swipes.

Thanks! I visited the L/N website (don't know why I didn't think of that in the first place...LOL) It looks like stoning the side of the teeth should be a good fix. Will be giving it a try this afternoon.
