I know that Lee valley sells them, but as far as I know the ones that they sells arn't made by leigh and I don't know if Lee Valley makes them themselves or if they come from somewhere else. Hope that helps?
Russ
thanks russell, iwas hoping they were made by whiteside. dan
Check the Whiteside web sit they sell sets and individual bits for your jig
I think MCLS sells a set of 5 or 6 bits in a set.
We get to soon oldt und to late schmart
Leigh sells there own bits on their website. Not cheap but they do cut nice. Whiteside also sells a set made for Leigh Jig use.
Bruce
I used the Whiteside dovetail bits for the Leigh jigs and the OEM bit in the same router and both bits were brand new and the difference was remarkable. Leigh OEM bits are made in Taiwan and they cost more than the Whiteside bits from Leigh. Another tidbit from the world of WW. Eagle America bits that tied Whiteside in that FWW router bit review, should have, they are made by Whiteside. All the Made in USA bits from Eagle, I know a guy that works there, are made by Whiteside so get them where they are the cheapest. Hartville Tool in Ohio usually has the best prices on Whiteside and they carry every bit they make.
YOU DID NOT SAY WHICH ONE OF THE BITS DID THE BEST JOB ?? I'm interested as i am going to buy a LEIGH JIG and i kinda wondered about there bits. WHY CAN'T WE HAVE SOME
GOOD AMERICAN made TOOLS ?
thanks
You do realize that Leigh jigs come from Canada, right?
-Steve
Jeff is right, Woodcraft carries the set for the Leigh Super jig and it has the 8mm collet in it as well. I use a Bosch 1617 router so I just bought the 8mm collet for it so I don't use a bushing. The collet was $10.
Terry
I use routers ALOT! For my 'GOOD' bits they are ALWAYS Whiteside!Cost a bit more but worth EVERY cent!
I believe Woodcraft carries those Whiteside bits for the Leigh jigs as well.
Jeff
I have a D4R and all the ISO templetes
I bought a set of 8mm bits off eBay for $66 and they work OK but like others said LV sells a set for just a little more and I would have when with them...
Also Rockler has the set of 3 ISO templetes at a crazy low price.. I think it should be the price for the D16 ISOs
For the ISO bits I think Leigh has the best prices for up spiral bits

rockler has ISO plates? I keep looking for a set on E-bay (I know I'm cheap), but have yet to snag a set. Love my d4r.Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
Do you know the difference between the D4R and it's predecessor the D4? I have the D4 and am wondering if I am missing out on anything.Chris @ flairwoodworks

I believe the D4R has some improvements in workpiece alignment and/or clamping features, but is otherwise basically the same machine.
-Steve
There are some changes, but I don't thing earth shatterening the body is a single piece instead of two. The side hold mechanism is machined in instead of attached. Here is a link to a pdf that outlines the differences. If woodcraft had not gave me my 10% birthday discount on the thing new, I would and did try the ebay route. The only problem with the ebay thing is when a D4 would appear it would go for darn near retail. I love mine.

There's also, or was, an upgrade kit available. Is it worth it? That's a coin toss, I have the D4R and alignment is straight forward and relatively quick.
Glen
I don't know of any upgrade kit other than the new Vacuum Router Support. I bought one but haven't had a chance to use it yet.Chris @ flairwoodworks

LV had a upgrade kit that included the Stability Fence and Vacume Port
That saved about $30 if bought by it self..
I think Highland Hardware also offered that kit, so places include the bit set with kit....

Rockler has them for
Leigh D-Series Isoloc Template Pack - All 3 Templates
InStock
$369.00 Each
Leigh has them listed for $489 and everyone else should have the same price..
I bought mine right after Dec 30 as Liegh raised prices because of week US$ one Can dollar is now almost even with US$ when it is $1.00 = $1.30 few years back..
I think imports will be cost more all over :(-rarebear-http://www.rexmill.com My Hand Plane Resource

The two best places for whiteside are http://www.routerbits.com out of Atlanta, GA and https://holbren.com in OH. Both have the best prices.
There was a posting on, I think sawmill creek, that the whiteside kits may have extra bits that you will not use. I guess the whiteside kit has two bits that you cannot use with the Leigh super jig, but you probably can with the D4. Just something to think about.
use the CMT set
I know that they're made with Swedish Sandvik carbide.
