I have Laguna Mortiser to which I want to attach Laser cross beam pointer in order to be able to align my wood piece exactly to the center of the bit. Anybody knows of any company that sells them?

Pretty good looking one here.

Hey, Thank you very much you are really quick. Have you tried any of them?
We have found that an Accurate Technology digital readout is much better for mortise set ups. You can mount it to read from the table surface to the centerline of the chisel/bit as a direct read. This does not even require marking any centerlines on the wood.
To use the laser (after some very tedious mounting), you still have to (1) mark the wood in the center (2), and then sight the laser onto the mark (3). That is three operations of the eye to a line -three opportunities to introduce error. The direct readout means you just adjust the table/fence to say, 1/2" to center in a 1" piece of wood. This also makes off center mortises much easier to hit. While the lasers are pretty cool items (we use one on a SLR), there is no need to introduce chances for error into the process.

My intention is to project the horizontal center line of the chuck/bit and mark the wood at the exacrt height line of my mortis. I studied the idea and found that as wood pieces are of different heights I won't be able to use a cross hair laser beam for start/finish operation. Do you have any laser gadget in mind that you could reccomend? I am still waiting for Steel City to send me description of their Drill Press Laser unit to see if I can mount it on the motor base behind the chuck.
Dave,Cool idea, do you know which model is used for the slot mortiser?
Here is a thought, but I don't know if it is adaptable.

thank you
This is sort of off in left field. However, I lean to the Left all the time so never stopped me.
I do not have a picture so all I can do is describe it. Also, I do not have it here. I made for a friend several years ago.
I will start by saying that the only hard part was making the mountings. I used some old brass I had but I would suspect that even wood would work.
The source of items I found were levels (with a bright red vertical/horizontal laser) I found them at a big box for about 10 dollars each. ToolShop brand at Menards as I recall? They had hundreds of them at the time.
I hacked them apart to get the 'good parts' and made a small AC to DC power supply so no batteries were necessary. I would think you could get a battery clip at Radio Shack or some place like that if batteries Ok for you.
I used the laser assemblies (hacksawed off with wires running to the battery pack). I mounted them to a fixture on his drill press. I just used setscrews and centers (two roll pins) for horizontal/vertical adjustments. The laser lens had a sliding lens assembly for spot or line. Make sense to you?
If you are mechanically inclined, very easy (and fun) to do.
