I am very interested in getting either a Hitachi 15″ or Makita 14″ miter saw to use mostly for tall base boards and tall crown moldings. I own a Hitachi C10FS slider and it is quite nice, but after using it for the past 5 years I still feel that it is better to cut with a board in a vertical position rather than on the flat of the table.
Is there anyone who owns either of these saws or has used one? The Hitachi has a little more cutting capacity but the Makita looks to be a fine saw also.
I have also looked at the DeWalt 706, It looks OK but I have had some bad luck with DeWalt products in the past and would like to steer clear of them.
Thanks!

I've got a 15" Hitachi. Nice saw, for crown. Just barely cuts 1x6 standing up. For the last few years it's been collecting dust, I've been using a dewalt 12"saw. Lighter in weight, blades are cheaper.
