Hi John;
I have a 16HD Laguna bandsaw and I’m quite happy with it, but I have this concern. The ceramic guide blocks, particularily the back one will spark quite a bit when resawing larger wood. It will do it with a new blade and using only minimal hand pressure to move the stock through the machine. I’m concerned that this might cause a fire some day. Any comments?

I have seen this often on the big band saw in the Fine Woodworking shop, which has Laguna guides on it, although the saw itself isn't a Laguna. The sparks are so fine that they burn out in a fraction of a second and don't generate nearly enough heat to start sawdust smoldering, so I wouldn't worry about it. Ceramic guides have been in use for years in commercial equipment and I have never heard of a fire problem.

John;
Thank you very much for the quick reply. I can now stop worrying about it and saw away. This is a great service.
