I have never made a mortise and tenon joint, if this is the one to use what is the best or easiest way, i will be making a lot of these, also to peg or not to peg ?
This is for gates,i think the arbors will have to be dealt with differently due to different stresses. gates are my main concern.
Thanks, GER
ps. did no know how to change ceader to cedar.

Hello
if you are going to make a lot of gates, Ide use a lap joint on cedar, the mortise and tendon are not really that great for woods as soft as cedar. Im not saying it wont work, Im just saying lap joints are strong and fast to make. and Gates are a real pain!
Ide use stainless screws, and tightbond III.
Good luck. and let us see your finished product.
sincerely yours.
Thanks Curtis, I like the sound of strong and fast. I will let you know how it turns out.
Thanks again. GER
