Hi- this question may have been addressed before, but I couldn’t find an answer. When edge jointing a long board (30 in.+) I have a high point in the middle of the board. I understand that snipe means the outfeed table is too low, and a taper means it’s too high, but I can’t riddle out the hump issue. I think my technique is ok. Any thoughts? Thank you,
Michael

any help?
Sorry for being slow, I'm been in the woods for the past few weeks getting in fire wood.
Try this approach to setting the outfeed table height: Set the outfeed table slightly lower than the blades in the head at top dead center. Now take passes on two similar boards and then put the freshly planed edges together. You'll find that the joint has a gap and there will probably be a snipe at the ends of the boards. Now use the outfeed table height adjuster to slightly raise the table and repeat the test. The edges should start to straighten out and the snipe will diminish. Keep raising the table and running the test and you should arrive at a point where the two test edges are straight and come together without a gap.

Thank you, that sounds like a plan.
