I haven’t been able to take a look at the new super saw by Jet, and while it seems to be okay, I can’t tell what Jet has done with the motor. Can someone enlighten me? This isn’t a direct drive saw, is it?
Thanks,
Bruce

The motor is hung below the armature like a cabinet saw. It is a cross between a contractor's saw and a cabinet saw. Doesn't look to be a bad idea. I would like to try one out but that will have to wait till after the move.

I thought the fence was pretty flimsy (but still better than the DeWalt. The sliding table seemed OK, but what does it add to the cost of the saw, something like another $300? I wonder why they didn't use the X-acta fence.
My guess on the cheap fence is to keep the cost down. I don't know if I would go with the sliding table as a option. The only other thing I not to fussy about is the fact that the left miter slot is built into the table extension. But I would still take a long hard look at it if I was in the market for a new saw.Scott C. Frankland

Bruce,
I've never used one, only looked at them on the showroom floor. Based on that, here are a few observations:
It seems to me that for 10%-15% more one would be much further ahead buying a full sized Jet cabinet saw. If one doesn't need the added power, and desires the convenience of a sliding table, save your money and buy a Ryobi.
