I just bought this compressor used and know nothing about it. I’d like to know how old it is, what the CFM specs are, how to maintain it (ie: what type of oil and how much to put in), as well as how to grease the Baldor motor bearings (they have grease fittings). Any direction would be useful. The compressor was a beast to carry in, even in pieces. I paid $400 for it.
Also, can I put a newer style intake air filter on it?
Cheers,
Nathan

Contact the manufacturer and get a spec sheet and manual for it. Always start with the manufacturer. You don't consider the air filter to be acceptable??? Looks like a new enough style air filter to me. Looks like a 2 stage. Put a guard on it.
Any comments on greasing motor bearings? There is nipples on both bearings (on top of motor housing). How much do I put in, what type of grease? I am concerned about putting in too much. I have never seen a motor with grease fittings before.Yes, it is 2-stage. I'll contact manufacturer as recommended.
For the motor grease question contact Baldor or go to their web site.John W.
A 2 stage, definitely. I would put synthetic oil in it for the best lube with minimal oil breakdown. You still have to change it periodically. Ingersoll-Rand sells a good quality product. Gardner-Denver is a great old line tool mfg and Baldor motors are top notch. Grease sparingly! Manufacturers reps are good sources of info. The air filter needs changing when it gets dirty-run the tool in a clean area and it will last longer than near the dust producing machines and dont paint near the air intake as it will fry the rings quickly. Good luck-you already got a good deal. aloha, mike
