My 22 year old Grandbaby girl/woman came back to live with me as she goes to a very good Art College here in Chicago.. She brought her six month old Pit Bull puppy with her.
PIT BULLS ARE DANGEROUS!
He is about 6 month old.. Just a puppy that is a TRUE nutcake (He ran between my legs as I walked down the stairs..) I ended up with a broken arm as I fell down the stairs! He licked my face and then barked really loud at me?
At my first feeding him.. I said EASY very loud while he took my treat of food. He NEVER grabs at the food he REALLY wants..
Always very gentle taking food. I mess in his food dish often. I can take it away for a few moments and he just gives me this very sad look? I have had many dogs in my life. Mostly dogs that are known to be very gentle dogs that NEVER liked me to take their food from them… But I KNEW they were upset at me! The mean old puppy Pit Bull just looked sad?
I never knew Pit Bulls were so vocal at barking! I thing he at least speaks 11 languages at me?

Teasing a baby pit bull is how you train him to be a killer
Will:
Sounds like you are well on your way to having either a heavy duty personal bodyguard or becoming this pit bulls ragdoll when he grows up. In Georgia we have at least one story a month about a pit bull brutally attacking a child. Everytime someone tells me how great his pit bull is and how much it loves children I respond with, "yea, but he just can't eat a whole one by himself". Michael Vick was totally misunderstood. Michael spend his hard earned NFL dollars buying up all the pit bull dogs he could find and euthanizing them to protect Georgia's children. It was all about the children, the guy's a great humanitarian and for that they put him in jail.
Have fun with the dog, while you still can.

NFL? This old man was never into sports.. I was the child always hit in the face or head with a baseball or a baseball bat!
I am NOT defending this little puppy.. I need to put up with him because of my grandbaby.. Family has to stick together?
I had a good laugh at your "how much it loves children I respond with, "yea, but he just can't eat a whole one by himself"...
Good response... My very old yellow dog, at my feet now, once ate a whole Turkey taken off the thanksgiving table while it was still 'resting' for us humans to be able to et... Bones and all!
I posted for responses. I will never allow this new dog near children. My middle daughter (she called herself that) was attacked by our German Shepard long ago... I spent ALOT of money to get her face looking like a normal woman child....She told me many years later, that she bit into the dogs ear because he smelled on her as she sat on the toilet?
I can only think of her words now.. She still loves dogs and cats and whatever animal... I would think not always the animals fault... Or the humans fault.
And then again I have never seen a set of teeth in stages, front higher in the jaw for grabbing and another set lower in the jaw for grinding bones at the back like a Pit Bull.
We humans made this dog.. He/she is some idea of a human thought. My grandaughter got it at a animal shelter in Arizona that was tagged for death the next day... Are these words, on some poster on the prison cage that the animal was in some sort of trap for the human also,,, A note to trap for a human to save a puppy that was suppose to die the next day? Or was it sort of like 'maybe we have to kill it in a few days if we cannot find a human that will try to love it'?
My sweet old yellow lab and my golden have attacked and killed a few rabbits out in the yard.. They play with the children in the yard without any problems for many years. I do not let the children alone in the yard with any dog.. Ever,,,
My golden died a few years ago. My yellow lab is to old to chase rabbits anymore.
oh oh....Maybe this one should go in the WW Cafe, I can see it is going to be a "fun" thread. Michael Vick misunderstood?!?
But in too many cases we find that we are constantly dealing with what is urgent, and not with what is important. They are not the same. I DIFFER and think the same thing whatever order stated,,,
We rescued a possum killing dog from the pound
Will:
When my sons were little we rescued a part chow, part everything else young adult mutt from the pound. After we completed the adoption we were told the dog was scheduled to go down the next day. He was a sweet medium sized dog who loved being outdoors, refused to go inside. That dog lived for playing with my boys and their friends. We moved to a covenant neighborhood 12 years ago that required a privacy fenced backyard for dogs. That first summer after the move the dog was barking up a storm in the middle of the night. I went to get him and as I was going up the deck stairs with him a possum started climbing me like I was a tree. The dog snatched the possum off of my waist and shook hard. Before I could react I was covered in bloody possum parts (that use to be inside the fur). My wife nearly died of laughter and told me if a possum mistakes you for a tree you just might be a redneck. Two months later, same thing. Dog barking nonstop in the middle of the night. I decided to avoid the deck but the stupid possum decided to play dead between us and the garage door. No joke, I was covered a second time head to toe in bloody bits of possum. From then on I was smart enough to take a flashlight to fetch the dog.

Pit bulls
At about 10 years of age, we picked up an American Pit Bull for a family pet. Corky was one of the best dogs we ever had. Raising any dog properly is up to the owner as to how the dog turns out, either very social with the "pack" or a junk yark killer. Become the Alpha "dog" yourself and be the pack leader as well as all family members and guests. Once you have that instilled in the dogs memory, that He/She is subserviant to humans, all is well.
Alas, Corky met his match with a Smart old Raccoon. Nearly weekly he would lay a dead Coon or Ground hog on the front steps. Till he got too old and tangled with a large old smart coon who took revenge on the old guy.
But much to the neighbors dismay, their Irish setter had some cute white stocky puppies. Corky was a corker!
Hope the arm heals quickly
Hey, will just wanted to wish you a quick recovery. There's plenty of sawdust to be made. How are the beds for your grand daughters going - before the accident of course.
