Anyone have one of the newer Gizzly Table Saws with the Riving Knife? I am curious as to your thoughts and opinions.

No replies to this eh? I was hoping that someone had one or better yet, had one with the sliding table!
What's got me perplexed, looking at the pics on the website, is how there can be a blade guard with the riving knife. The cabinet saws that have a riving knife come with both a splitter and a riving knife. But I don't see the guard being used with the riving knife, or any place for it to attach and pivot from. No big deal for me personally, since I use an overhead guard, but something to think about when budgeting.
How long have they had a cabinet saw with a riving knife? Did they come out at the same time as the contractor saw did?forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Hi FG:The riving knife that I've seen on the Powermatic and Sawstop are different from the knife/blade guard combo. You swap out the blade guard/splitter for a riving knife. Of course then you'd need an overhead guard again, preferably with a vacuum. But I guess the idea is that more people would likely be willing to leave a riving knife on the saw than a blade guard splitter that's in the way. I currently only have a Biesy. splitter on my contractor saw and no over blade guard, it was too many stupid little things that made me decide to mount the splitter after sitting in a drawer for over a year.BTW: I forget, which guard do you have?
I have the PSI guard. It was the only one I could afford at the time, but I'm pretty happy with it. It's very easy to install, and easy to adjust when you need to, can be ceiling mounted. Hope it fits the Unisaw I bought today!! If the boom doesn't stretch, I'll have to mount it to the ceiling.......

Congrats on the new Unisaw FG! I've been ogling over my neighbors Unisaw for years.
Thanks! Hope we don't kill ourselves trying to get it from the truck into the shop. Unfortunately, I don't know any high school football players.....forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
No replies yet. I was hoping someone would have gotten one so I could ask them some questions.
I thought I was going to get one this year.. Or something a 'bit' better..
Well, Old Uncle Sam had different ideas! I OWED takes! Gee there went my new saw!
Powermatic or a Grizzzz. I'd bet both are great saws!
