Question on Grizzly 14″ bandsaws… Someone posted that Grizzly prices were going up as of Jan. 1, 2005. So… all things being equal, should I go for the standard 14″ saw or their ‘Ultimate 14″‘ saw?
Does anyone know how much these two saws will go up in price on Jan 1?
Can anyone give feedback (positive or negative) on Grizzly’s Ball bearing blade guides? Anything else I should know about these saws?
Thanks in advance… SawdustSteve

forgot, the ball bearing guides have worked flawlessly so far. Buy the better of the 2 saws

Hey Steve,
Yup prices are going up. I was actually hoping for an end of year sale but just the opposite will happen. So I ordered mine last week after we left the shop. Hoping it should come in late this week. Yes I went for the 17" and also got a mobile base too. I keep hearing great things about Grizzly. Ive got all the contact info on the shipping company they use to LI so if you want it let me know. I have a big hand cart if you need help moving it when it arrives. Mine is going to be a real handfull.
Good luck
Ed
I have a Grizzley 14 1/2" Z model and it works pretty good. I do recommend the bearing guides. I did have a problem with the guides holder being made from pot medal and very thin walled. It failed when I was tightening the thumbscrews. I would recommend beefing up the holder with JB weld epoxy metal as soon as you get yours to reduce the possibility of a failure in the future.

I also have the G0555 14" and todate am satisfied. about 6 months after I received the saw the upper guide bearings froze up but Grizzley quickly sent out a replacement set and have been doing well for about a year now. I have the riser kit installed and do quite a bit of resawing and there has never been a lack of power as long as common sense is used.
I have seen ads lately that post the price of the saw at 425.00 so you may be too late to get the discount.
