Hi Everyone…
I just bought a bungalow house, and have been bitten by the arts and craft bug. I am in desprate need of some dining room chairs ; and i am looking for plans for a green and green brothers dining chair. Does anyone know where i can purchase a plan, or any books ; with the information i need?
Thanks all,
Mark

For the most part the G&G furniture was one off for the specific house so plans are tough to come by. There are some archives I have links for on my PC at work. I'll get them for you tomorrow. I have a couple of books by Randell Mackinson who In my opinion is the expert on G&G. There's one specifically on their furniture. If you 've really got the bug there's a couple of mags you'll need American Bungalo and Style 1900, AB is a quarterly, maybe Style 1900 is also. So where's the Bungalow? Bungalow weekend is coming up again in Pasadena soon.

We trained hard, but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams, we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing; and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization.

Tell us about this Bungalow Weekend ! When is it ? Are there tours, open houses ? Do you have to sign up ?
Not too far from San Diego. I'd love to go up for the day !

Don't remember exactly when it was, maybe October. I went a couple of years ago and it was great. Big exhibit and sale of all things A&C and tours of many bungalows including the Gamble and Blacker. There's also something similar in SD's Old Town district. You'll find both mags at B&N or try the Gamble House web site for more info and links.John O'Connell - JKO Handcrafted Woodworking

I used to live in bungalow heaven a few years ago(5 years to be exact). We did not have one of THE Bungalows, but were surounded by some beautiful homes.
There are tours of about 6-10 houses that have been restored. Many to original design. You can purchase tickets the same day and I believe they were about $15.
It is definitely worth the trip. Many experts are there to answer questions regarding restoration.

I can't imagine ever leaving if I ever made it there in the 1st place. I've never lived more that 8 miles from the Pacific in So Cal but I'd leave the beach for the right bungalow in Pasadena. Sadly I think both of the G&G's in Long Beach are gone. There's a big 1910+/- Craftsman on Ocean in LB (by the Art Museum) that I've been drooling over for 30 years. Last year it came on the market but it went for $1.3, way out of my league.

My wife's career moved us back to the midwest. But I must say I have a much larger area for woodworking.

hi ELCOHOLIC
thanks for the reply, the bungalow is in allenton wisconsin, its all brick with maple floors, all original, from 1910 ,its a gem in the rough.
I grew up in sothern cal there sure are alot of bungalows, out there.
I have been thinking of buying a really beautiful stone bungalow in Oregon. Made an offer before seeing the inside, then got a chance to see the inside, beautiful tulipwood build ins.
If you look really close, it is faux tulipwood, whover did it is an artist but there are no pores and it just looks faux.
Still a stunning place, I may buy it but the faux stuff really threw me for a loop, I had read that they did that but I had never seen it.
David Mathias has some G&G plans on his site at http://www.cse.ohio-state.edu/~dmath/projects/plans.html
He doesn't have any chair plans downloadable, but he may have some he'd share if you contacted him.
