Furniture Templets

What is the best wood for making templets and is there a kind you can buy from home depot

I use 1/4" mdf for my templates as there are no grain direction issues. It's also cheap, easy to read marks on, and you can cut and rout it easily. It also planes and files well. My Home Depot doesn't carry it. Yours may. Good luck. Gary
