Thank you for your earlier response. I have completed stripping and adding 6 light coats of Behlens rock hard to a cherry table top. Looks great! How can I turn down the high gloss finish? The table legs are a low gloss. I understand that a 2-3 month waiting period is required before attempting to rub the finish to a lower gloss. I am not familiar with the technique of rubbing down a finish. What is your recomendation

Rubbing a surface can be accomplished using a variety of mediums;steel wool, scotch pads, abralons, rubbing compounds etc
You can use an abralon pad followed by steel wool. Or you can use a grey scotch pad with some fine cut mequires compound
Another way is to wet sand with 6 or 800 grit paper and rub with 0000 steel wool.
Do yourself a favor and check the sections on rubbing finishes in some of the finishing books prior to starting. It will explain,in detail, the process.
BTW, I saw your question.
