I purchased a Domino DL 500 mortise and tennon machine because I’m not very good at cutting these by hand and my mistakes usually cost me a lot of money! I have not used this machine yet but I’m laying out quite a bit of work for which I hope this will work as good as all the hype says it will. However, I can’t help noticing a certain lack of articles or how-to guidance in Fine Wodworking. Is this Festool machine being ignored for some reason? Surely someone who is a furniture maker or woodworker has used this machine and has an opinion on it one way or the other. Would anyone out there care to share their expertise on this machine, or perhaps know of a book that has been written on basic use of the machine? Thanks.

Hi Waljay, I do not look at my PC very often - have too much of it at work and would rather make saw dust!
I have had a Festool for abot 4 years and love it. The best way is to just try it out
The machine has 3 width settings - I have been told to ensure that you get one set (opposing) hole perfectly lined up and then use the wider settings for the others - this will allow any slight mislaignment. I have done this s few times but generally try to only use the one setting.
One needs to ensure the depth of cut is just over 1/2 the length of the selected biscuit - otherwise they will bottom out before the join closes.
I have now started to make my own dominoes!
