I'mn looking at them too. The owner is a real nice and approachable fellow. I'll be interested in the replies. I talked to my used machinery man and he said he had heard good things. Let's hope the relies confirm this, as changing jointer knives is a PITA.
I bought esta dispoza blades about one year ago for my Jet 15" planner. I have been pleased with them. The cost of the double sided disposable knifes cost the same as sharpening one of the original single sided blades. I have had good results with the cleanness of cut also. I bought them right before I had a bunch of birdseye maple that needed to be planned for a crib. I was concerned that I would need a thickness sander to do the finishing passes, but the blades left a very smooth cut with hardly any tear out of the material. I am still on the first side of the blade since my original installation. I haven't used them a whole lot (I've probably completed four project since then), but from what I can see the quality of cut is very comparable to the original blades on the planner and I believe that the overall cost will be much cheaper than purchasing $100 dollar blades and $45 dollars for sharpening single sided blades.
I was originally referred to disposable blades by Lewis Judy with NW Timber who use I believe uses a different type of blade. I visited his facility in Oregon and was amazed at how clean of cut he had on HIGHLY figured walnut, cherry and maple. I was sold when I saw that.
I think that the blade holder cost me about $200-260 and a set of double sided blades were about $45. I would recommend them

Thanks for the info. I spoke to Dave (I think that was his name) jsut after a 4 hour jointer changing session, maybe a month ago, and so I am still in the market, but see no reason to buy early. He has all the stuff in stock. I usually change out my jointer knives about @ 6 months or so. WW ain't my day job, they last a bit.
Another bennifit is that once your jack screws are set for the blade holder it isn't supposed to need readjustment when you install new blades. Unlike when your blades are sharpened.
And that is precisely the reason I was considering the switchover! I have to take half a day of shop time setting a machine. Rather made some dust.
