I have a new Delta 50-760 dust collector that I’m very happy with, but I’m trying to figure out how to remove the bag to empty the dust without tearing the bag. It’s held in place with a flexible ring. I haven’t been able to pop it loose with my fingers, but I’m afraid to use a screwdriver. What’s a simple way to do this?

It sounds very similar to the ring that holds the lower bag in my Jet cannister. Is it lined with cloth, with a "hem" that drops down a bit?? Grab ahold of the ring (or "aholt" as we say in the south), thumb on the bottom, fingers on the top, pull a bit toward the center of the ring, and push up. The ring will tilt up and come loose. Do the opposite to get it back in.
Thanks, forestgirl, for your help on hems and hoops.
Any time, JJ. Keep in mind I don't "do" hems of any other kind that DC hoops, LOL!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Another big help is to only let it fill up 2/3 of the way to being full. Get up to 7/8ths full and it really gets tough.

Another option is to use the band clamp that comes with the DC. I did that, but that thing is a bear too because it fits so tightly. But you don't have to wrestle with the spring-loaded band (or whatever you would call it.)
