Did I dream it or did I see a “lunch box” drum sander ?
Just like a planer but a drum sander limited to 12″ or so.

The Griz is cute, but I'll stack my little Performax/Jet 10/20 against it any day. Can't see what kind of motor the Griz has but the Performax/Jet has a full sized induction motor(direct drive to the drum). Just checked Griz site, Induction motor also. Another advantage is the open end for width. And the price points are very close. The Drum on the Performax is 5" so you get about 15sq/in more sanding surface area and a cooler running drum. A 4" dust port on the P-X.

I thought I saw something like De-Walt at Home Depot, did I ?
The closed feature although limiting the width is a must for the application I have in mind.C.
I have the latest DeWalt,Jet,Powermatic,PC and Delta catalogs and see no lunchbox drum sanders. SorryWork Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

C,
There is this Jet thang; but it is open-ended albeit a mere 10 inch sanding width.

Must have been a dream after all !C.
Very familiar with the Jet 10/20, previously known as Performax 10/20. I have one and love it, but it's like comparing a Rolls Royce to a Yugo. It maybe smallish but out of the lunch box category ;-)Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

I debated over the drum sander options long and hard and eventually went with a 16/32 Performax and I really am happy. I am not sure of the Jet but I know that with the Griz the abrasives attach with velcro which has a tendancy to round edges.
