About three weeks ago, I purchased my first bandsaw, a Grizzly G0555. At the same time I also got the riser block. I got it all put together, tuned and started to make my first cuts. It did not take me long to realize what many on this board has said about the stock blade not being very good.
Taking advice from here, I looked into the Timber Wolf blades from Suffolk Machinery. I liked the fact that they offered a money back guarantee on the blades and best of all they guaranteed 48 hour shipping, because I really wanted to play with my new toy. I ordered four blades (1/8″, 1/4″ 1/2″ and 3/4″) on Feb 1, and was told they would ship on Feb 3 (Thursday) USPS priority mail. I thought, good I should have them by Saturday.
By Friday (Feb 11th) I had not received them and called customer service to see what had happened to them. I was told that they were having trouble getting the 3/4″ steel and that it might be the week of 2/14 before they get any in, and with the back log, it may be the week of 2/21 before I received them. He did ask if I wanted to split the order and have the other 3 shipped, and I did so. In addition I sent and e-mail to them stating my disappointment with the order handling, (not a nasty letter, just disappointment) especially since this was my first order.
On Monday, (Feb 14th) I received my blades, all four of them. I believe that my order was lost or misplaced and was not brought to their attention until I called. I received nothing from them before I called letting me know that there was a delay, or an acknowledgment of the e-mail I sent. I know that this is a rant, and I have not done this before, but if a company states a 48 hour shipping guarantee and there is going to be a delay they should let you know about it. And they should have automaticly shipped the three blades that were ready. If I would not have contacted them I am not sure when I would have received my blades.

Mike,
I feel your pain, aw who am I kidding I've been there with a new toy to play with and then things go wrong.
Did someone at Timerwolf make a mistake, yeh probably,! but if they immediately commit Hari Kari and then burn the body will you ever forgive them?
Or would you rather the company disappears off the face of the earth and let them be replaced by someone inferior? <G>:
Other places sell timberwolf blades too! I buy mine at Woodcraft and seven corners hardware in St Paul MN.
I don't always like to mail order, and not to bash UPS, but priority mail gets to me much faster.
Look locally and maybe you can find stuff.
Hello Frenchy, do I want them to commit Hari Kari and then burn the body, no. Do I want them to go away and be replaced by someone inferior, no, that blade came with the riser kit....
I am just wanting an acknowledgment that they did make a mistake and own up to it, not give me some BS about not being able to get steel for a couple of weeks. I understand mistakes happen, but had they said we made a mistake, we will send the blades out today, I would have never made a post about this. We are the people our parents warned us about. J. Fair enough,
People do make mistakes , and it would be nice to have someone acknowledge that mistake and apologize,..... but we're all human..
I know it's hard for me to accept responsibility for someones's mistake and take the complaint myself and that may be all that happened..
These things happen. People are human. Things aren't perfect all the time. I'd suggest you ask for a credit for the shipping costs.

That's from 'There Goes Johnny Dangerously'. Pretty obscure, I admit. If you look at Cherryjohn's last posts, those lines are from the same movie."I cut this piece four times and it's still too short."

Forstgirl, I realize that things happen, and as I stated to frenchy, it would have been better for them to say we made a mistake rather then tell me they were out of material. If they were truely out of material, they should have know that when they took the order. If they did not they have some big problems with their material resource planning system. If they were out of material for a week, what did they tell the other people that placed orders?
What good is it to have a 48 hour shipping guarentee if it amounts to nothing.
I am probably a little sensitive to these situations, I just waited 5 months for a class ring that was ordered for my son that was supposed to take 4-6 weeks. But in that case they accepted resposibility for the mistake and reduced the the cost to use. With the bandsaw blades, they have not even acknowledged the mistake, just gave me an excuse. Man, I wish I read this thread yesterday! I ordered four blades and they gave me the same delivery guarantee. They ship out within 2 days and UPS delivers within 2 days, I'll let you know on saturday if they held-up their end of the bargain!
They only told me that the holdup was because of the 3/4" material, not the other sizes. But like I said, I think that they just misplaced my order...We are the people our parents warned us about. J. Buffett
I've ordered from them three or four times and never had a problem, even once when they were "closed".
"What good is it to have a 48 hour shipping guarentee if it amounts to nothing." First of all, it doesn't "amount to nothing." 9999 times out of 10K, I'll bet it holds true. If you want your shipping charges refunded ask them to do it. The fuggetaboutit.
It's completely possible that some human who answered one of your calls made a mistake. Seems to me you have two choices: You can spend all this energy griping about a company that has a sterling (remember: that's not pure silver) CS record, or you can drop them another line and fuggetaboutit. Chalk it up to a misalignment of the planets or something. forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
My experience with Timberwolf (Suffolk) has been uniformly positive, ordering a couple times a year for the last 5+ years.

Mike, it is likely that they sensed your disappointment in your phone call and went out of their way to dig up a 3/4 inch blade to complete your order, likely shorting someone else and making them wait. They could very well be on back-order status to fill the orders they have received, in the order received. It sounds to me like they went the extra step to help you, after completing the phone call, rather than having lied to you. In any case, think of it in this light and be happy, rather than guessing that they lied to you and being mad. We will likely never know, and our problems could be worse.
Woody
We understand your disappointment....now tell us about the blades! How do they perform on your new saw?
Regards,
Ron
Ron, I will not be testing the guarentee about not cutting well. I installed the 3/4" blade and ran some 3" ash through it, and it cut like butter. I am very happy with the blades, at least the 3/4".
I don't think that I will be switching blades very often. Being that the bandsaw is new to me, I was kind of suprised how much setup it takes when a different blade is put on, mostly just getting the tension correct. Somehow in my mind I thought switching blades on a bandsaw would be as easy as switching blades on a tablesaw, I was wrong...We are the people our parents warned us about. J. Buffett
