Dewalt 734 Planer leaves marks on the wood from the 8 knife screws
We have a Dewalt 734 in our shop.
After installing a new set of non OEM blades, the planer started to leave marks on the surface of the wood in the exact location of the 8 knife hold down screws. We have reversed the knives and the same problem is still occurring.
We installed a set of new Dewalt OEM blades and the same problem still occurs.

Try it with the old blades - you may find that there is a difference. If the countersink does not match the blade the screw might sit proud perhaps?
Unfortunatly we no longer have the old blades. We did install a second set of new non DEwalt blades and the problem continued. We then installed a new set of Dewalt blades and the problem still continued. The 8 blade hold down screws are original to the machine. We have been using this machine for about 8 years.
Are you using the magnetic holders that come with the machine to set the blade height when you install them?
The blades are set too shallow or you're taking to big a bite.
I just called up an exploded view of the machine... Might you have the blade clamps (or one of them) installed upside down? The screws would ride higher that way. Put some pencil or sharpie on the screw heads and run a board through to see if the screws themselves are making contact.
