Today on the way home I found some OLD IRON, and boy did my neck jerk when I passed it. A DeWalt GP. 2HP, 12″, dual voltage, Serial# 56186 so that makes it a 1947 vintage saw. Gee, only one year older than me. Now to convince the wife. That is after I give it a test run. Really anxious to get rid of my 70’s Crapsman radial. This DW has the full (wide) steel base. Castings look to be solid with no cracks, paid close attention to post clamp. Slides smoothloy even with a bit of “light powder” rust. Naturally a new deck will be in order. Googled up some GP’s and found $800-$1200 average. Is that realistic, and are people getting that for them?
They are asking $125.00 for this one.
Next day edit. Well I couldn’t take it for a test run but got it anyway. Have to be extra nice to wife and do a lot of Honey Do’s to quell the mild storm. Promised to sell the Crapsman radial arm, do you think I’m heart broken over that ?? 😉 Thank God for the tractor w/front end loader 😉

old iron
Congrats, Bruce. $800-$1200 doesn't sound realistic to me for any RAS, other than perhaps a large industrial model. But, it sounds like you got a good deal on the DeWalt.
Test run
Gave the saw a test run yesterday , after opening up all the covers and checking out the wiring diagram to confirm it was set up for 230, and it was. Blew out the motor and let her "rip" WHIRRRRR in a good way, what a relief and she coasted forever after shutdown.
Now for the scary part. The guy that I purchased it from gave me 12 extra old steel blades, 10 of which are freshly sharpened, but in the collection are three 16" blades. Mind you, he said I could use them without the guard !!!!!!!!!!!! I THINK NOT !!
Also found all four of the post hold down bolts just finger tight and the column adjusting bolts screwed out and swivel clamp out of adjustment. This is going to be a long winter project to make her pretty.
Now for the asthetics question?? Stay with original machinery gray ? Or go to another colour ?

I'd paint the blade guard with red and yellow stripes. ;-)
Once you get her cleaned up, I'll trade you a photo of my old Delta Ten Plus RAS-2A.
