Can anyone suggest a concealed hinge for a 3/8″ lipped door? I found a Salice hinge at at Rockler, which is extremely overpriced. Blum makes one for lipped doors, but I don’t know if it is practical. Has anyone used this product?

Jayder ,
Most brands of hinges have an inset mounting type block / bracket that can be used with a lipped door . So you would get the hinges and box mount brackets for a flush inset application but the bracket will be mounted closer to the face of the cabinet .The cup bore of course will be beyond the lip a tad , mock it up first .Piece of cake .
After like 15 or 20 years or so of saying it can't be done , I learned it right here on this forum from David Ring .
have fun dusty
As Dusty said I once posted a solution to this problem using standard Blum parts, probably not the only one.
You can find it at 9868.16
You must do a mock-up to fine tune the drilling distances, but it can quite definitely be done.

Hello David ,
The hinge thing is such a winner , thanks to you sharing .
Are you done in the out of country venture ?
Is your market only Israel or do you still work in the states ?
Things are slow compared to the last 10 years but we are making a living .

BTW , un pack your swimsuit and flip flops , the job in Hawaii will not be built , so we need to find a new gig .I only spent 30 hours and some travel , but I got an E mail dear john letter out of the deal for my efforts .
Hi Dusty,Sorry about that Hawaii job. I'm also looking for some new interesting project. I'm through with the Angola adventure...but I don't want to completely hijack this thread, so I'll post something about it in a new thread.I'm back in our shop making kitchen cabinets. We've got 9 people in the shop now, 'cause there's a lot of work. So I'm not complaining, although as I said I'd like to find some interesting new challenge. I wouldn't mind doing another job in the States, but truth be told it has to be a 6-figure job or it just can't be worthwhile. I plan on going to New York in October. Not for work, just 2 weeks of fishing with my oldest grandson. I bought a property in the Catskills that's just waiting for me to build on, but in the meantime I'm going to check out the fishing there.best regards,David Ring

Thank you for your reference to message 9868.16. This appears to be a solution, but I have one more question. I've used Blum screw-on hinges in the past. Your solution uses the Inserta hinge (Part No. 716540)
Is this a personal preference, or would either work as well?
I've used the Inserta type since the moment they became available. But it shouldn't make any difference on this issue. Only the hinge cup and screw plate differ, not the body of the hinge.
