Hi
Completely new to wood working.
I have purchased a cnc router but don’t want to spend big bucks for a spindle.
Thought about Dremel because it turns really fast for use of very fine cutters.
Any recommendations for a router? The Porter Cable 7539 was where I was heading.
Many thanks
Doug

Dragonfly,
As a Highschool Tech Ed teacher I use a CNC Router on a daily basis. Our power head is a 3Hp three phase Router mounted on a $ 30,000 machine. I'm not sure what you could accomplish using a Dremmel Cutter head.

Hi Lairdo
Thanks for your reply.
Do you know the model & maker of the router you are using?
Cheers
Doug
Suggest you contact the Shopbot folks. They sell both options so would likely have a good idea of how long a standard 3HP router would last. They are still a smaller company so might offer help even if you aren't a customer.
Or you could just ask lifespan/performance of the router vs. spindle options as it applies to their CNC machines. Might even be on a FAQ on their site.
Good luck.
