Has anybody seen a recent review of Compound Miter Saws (not sliders).
I am considering the new Delta 36-312 and want to compare it to others out there.
BTW: Have a Porter Cable 3807 SCMS for sale to anyone in the Bay Area. $275.00 delivered.

You might want to read up on the Bosch 3912. Several people here seem to like it.

Michael,
I have a dewalt 706 and I love it. Though I would definately get the new delta today unless when I put my hands on it I thought it felt cheep.

I'm one of the folk who bought the Bosch 12" miter saw. It seemed like a much better value to me. It comes standard with a hold-down and a (small) left-side extension. I think (but don't know for sure) that the table is bigger. The extension kit is quite affordable, and very very sturdy. The whole thing is built like a tank.

Check out the current issue of Fine Homebuilding, or maybe it was last month's issue. They tested several of them. I believe they liked the Bosch best.
Thanks all.
I will add the Bosch to my list.
What I like most about the Delta was the up front lock for the head tilt. I will be mounting this saw in a bench so I don't need the extensions and having the head tilt lock up front means I can move the saw even further back towards the wall._________________________________

Yep, that up-front bevel lock is nice. Not something I needed to prioritize, but I can certainly see its usefulness in your situation!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
