Oil, varnish, and turp. 1 part to 2 parts to 3 parts. I got this classic Conneticut. How is this type of mixture applied. Is it put on heavily and left to dry? How many coats? Etc. I’d appreciate a run-down of the sequence and specifics of the process.

When I have used a similar concoction I have wiped it on and then wiped it off. I have not used the oil portion for continued coats--just varnish and turpentine (a long time ago, but now mineral spirits) 50/50 for 8 coats for tops, maybe 6 for parts that will not get as much wear. The varnish I prefer is satin marine spar (NOT poly).
