Several weeks ago someone gave a new carver a name of a person that has plans for a Chippendale chair which I would like to make. Dose anyone remember the name of the carver…it was like richards, or clarson. I am a biginner carver and would like to build a chair. I appreciate it. thanks

Boss didn't mention it, but the link takes you to plans drawn by Phil Lowe. Phil does EXCELLENT work, and one of his strengths as a craftsman, and and a teacher is his drafting. His should be excellent.
They are the best available as far as I know. I've built almost all of them or used them as a jumping off point for major dimensions on other pieces.

Thanks to you and Calvin Hobbs, and Steve Schoene for leading me to plans for the Chippendale chair plans. I make a lot of stuff and nothing twice. I will search these plans out. Thanks
Old,
Also Carlyle Lynch's drawings. Used to be available from Garrett Wade. I don't get their catalog, so don't know if they are still there. Lynch's granddaughter sells them directly as well. She advertises in the classified sect of FWW. Carlyle was an artist as much as a draftsman. His drawings are just beautiful, and he was an excellent craftsman as well. He drew a couple different Chippendale chairs, if I remember rightly.
Regards,
Ray Pine
Thanks, I,m checking it out now. I spent years using and making drawings, and have a lot of carving chisels, but little carving experience and looking forward to the project. Anything new I love.
Old,
Salomonsky's book, Masterpieces of Furniture, by Dover publishing has a couple Chippendale chairs. Also, Dover's book by Paul Hasluck, on Traditional Woodcarving, has some good basic how-to instruction, although the carving designs themselves are more Arts and Crafts than Chippendale.

Thanks, you guys know your stuff. John
Old,
Well, I know the books on my shelf!
Ray
Search for books by Ron Clarkson.
He has one for making Chippendale Chairs.
I have this book as a reference. For some reason it seems his work in the books is a little sloppy but the step by step pictures are of good value.
