Anyone seen that little tool chest in the Garrett-Wade catalog? It has those nice steel corner protectors, lifts and latch. I’ve been trying to locate an online supplier of that type of hardware. Any links would be appreciated. To see a picture of this item see

– Thanks.

Try Rockler.
*Rockler catalog, pages 138-139 Most machinists boxes use corner #25692,rather than the one shown with the kit PAT
*Brett,Notice in Pat's reply the the operative words are "machinists box". Gertsner never made boxes for wood workers and the the one commissioned by Garrett-Wade is still to small to be practacle, IMO.I have a 100 old Gertsner that I use to keep all of my fly tying materials and tools in. FWIWDano
*Dano: Someone made a very similiar box used by patternmakers. It was much longer and did not have the little storage place in the upper center. The drawers were long enough to accommodate the extra length of the various shrink rules. Except for its larger size,it appeared to be the big brother of the machinist box. PAT
*Pat,I understand what you are saying, someone did, usually the pattern maker himself. Because of the number of tools required for this trade these "boxes" were in reality large chests similar to a cabinet makers chest. Because the pattern maker was not required to practice his trade off site his "tool box" looked like a medium size wardrobe but about half as deep. It has been sort of a mission of mine to find a cabinet makers chest or pattern makers chest with all tools accounted for. I have seen many of both, always empty.:)Dano
*I agree. The one I'm building will be similar in concept to the one in Garret-Wade (sliding trays) but slightly larger (but not as large as the Dun can chest in FL, though I do like it). I want to be able to keep smaller fine tools and accessories in one place handy on the work bench and be portable. I don't have the greatest shop space and am not willing to build on because we will move. I just have a chest building fetish going on right now! Thanks to all for the Rocker tip.
*WOODSMITH.com has it all.
